PONTYPOOL GLYN PITS
Newspaper Cutting

This is part of an advertising article in the Pontypool Free Press for Friday, May 7, 1965. This advert promised a secure future in the British mining industry, an industry whose workers fought for over many years by men like the Miners Agent, later Alderman, Arthur Jenkins, who had the courage to stand up for their beliefs, even to the point of imprisonment by a government and mine -owners, who put money before the lives of its people.
However, it was barely twenty-five years later that the industry was completely destroyed by the Thatcher government. One might almost say this was the ultimate 'Lockout'!
